Continuing our work in repurposing declining retail centres we have submitted a planning application to Lewisham Council on behalf of The Really Local Group for Catford Mews, a transformation of an existing Poundland into a creative community hub containing a three screen cinema, recording studios, community workshops at first floor, market food hall, rum disitillery and craft ale bar. The application is for A1, A3, A4, A5, B1 and D2 all within the same premises - a demonstration of the flexibile approach adopted by the Catford Regeneration Partnership and Lewisham Planning Department to encourage and nurture transformation. Once granted, these would be the first new cinema screens in Lewisham for decades.
The concept is a first for The Really Local Group who have an ambitious programme for a series of similar community hubs to be tailored to the needs and opportunities of each location but consistently featuring cinema. Really Local and Wren have worked closely with the Catford Regeneration partnership in evolving the concept to date, a relationship that is essential to the future success Catford Mews
